Six Flags, Winchester Mystery House, Mystery Spot

An avid speaker from Menlo Park Toastmasters tries to profit from his speech. (Toastmasters is a non-profit organization to help people to communicate and to speak). Derek (that's me) went around town trying to get someone to pay for his speech. He applied for a weekend job for the following companies:

Baskin Robins Ice Cream store near Santana Row.

Winchester Mystery House

Six Flags Vallejo

Mystery Spot from Santa Cruz

Tour guide around Bay Area

Questions: After an exhausive effort to send his resumes to the companies, what came out of it?

What was the primary means to submit resume (online, phone call)?

Which company(ies) replied to the submission of my resume and how quickly?

What company(ies) rejected me after the interview?

What company gave me an offer?

What offer did I accepted?

Lots of luck, Derek. If I had only known about Toastmasters years ago, I could have had more fun, improved my communication skills, and impressed lots more people sooner. Menlo Park Toastmasters club meets Wednesday evenings in downtown Menlo Park. Keep us informed, so that we can celebrate there when you get your dream job.

I joined Toastmasters about a year ago and I've given about 10 speeches. I noticed that I'm more confident and comfortable in speaking in a professional setting. I also found that it's really helpful when you get to practice weekly public speaking and thinking on your feet. Plus it's fun. I would recommend Toastmasters to anyone!
