Review: 'Biutiful'

You know the old joke. Someone has hit what feels like rock bottom and asks, "How could things possibly be any worse?" Cue the driving rain. That's about how it goes in "Biutiful," the new film by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, but don't expect to laugh. -- PC

A very realistic and emotionally nuanced film about someone who struggles to love his children and others around him in tragic conditions.

For those who can keep to the thread of love being displayed under the most trying conditions, this is a memorable and rewarding film.

For those who are distracted by a tragic setting, this film may well depress you and you probably will be happier not seeing it.

I was not sure what to make of Biutiful. With the ESP aspect and then that weird bar scene I felt it was iniconsisttent and weird, yet somehow haunting and interesting.
