I write this after getting off a Skype phone call from my son who was following the SF Giants game from Korea. What a great series against the Phillies, and how excitng that the Orange and Black means more this year than Halloween.
I have vague memories of my Little League days, but vivid memories as a parent of how my two kids participated in youth baseball and softball here in town with Palo Alto Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, and PALY Softball.

Both my son and daughter are diehard baseball fans, and love the Giants. It has been a wonderful connection for us as they get into their young adult years and are far away from the Bay Area at this stage of their lives.
I just got off a Skype call with my son in Korea, and he was so excited I felt like he needed to e tied down.
This is just so fun. Let's share other family experiences about what is going on with the Giants.

Go Giants! Let's hope they do better than they did in 2002. I wonder if they will let Zito pitch? I hope not. It's one thing to watch a pitcher allow so many hits and walks, but when you try and comprehend all the money that they are paying him to choke, just can't watch that. It would really be a wonderful thing to bring home SF's first World Series Pennant.

The Giants were awesome!!! The Phillies and their fans were horrible, along with the biased national media. I am very pleased the Giants won the series. Sweet.

I was at a meeting today that largely consisted of high school students.
These guys and gals conveyed to me that both PALY and Gunn citizens are totally pumped about the Giants being in the World Series! They are talking about it between classes, and likely doing stuff on various social networking gizmos that I do not get.
This is glue. It has nothing to do with technology. Emotion, connection, hope, Mighty Casey at the Bat.

I've had to go to Frys a couple of times, and a steady stream of big screen TVs was going out the door both times.

Palo Alto needs to jump on the bandwagon and advertise Destination Palo Alto--with the Giants games bringing in fans, it would be perfect for people to also visit Palo Alto also and take in the historic sites.
People can come see historic Edgewood Plaza--designed by Joseph Eichler (all praise his name) and then tour the historic Eichler neighborhoods. Then they take in all the other historic homes in Palo Alto (remember everything built before 1940 is historic).
We do ask however that people bike and/or walk to Palo Alto, since we do not want any additional traffic.
