Louis Road is going to have no bus service which is going to prove a problem to those using public transport to get to Gunn High School. There is no way that students at Gunn can get there by public transport now and there is now no connector to the Embarcadero shuttle for Paly students.
We are trying to hard to get students to use public transport rather than cars to get to school and now this happens. The traffic on high school routes are already ridiculous, the Charleston Arastadero traffic watch have got the number of lanes reduced and now there is the potential of increasing traffic flow on this route.

Where did you read about Louis having no bus service? Right now there is a single route - 88 on this road. Its too bad they diverted the route away from San Antonio and Stanford shopping center .. now they are stopping the bus service completely????

I'm sorry to hear the number 88 Louis Road bus might have its route shortened.
During the public hearing for the Campus for Jewish Life a suggestion was made that the Louis Road bus might do a loop down East Meadow up Fabian Way and back onto East Charleston. This would provide bus service for the Vantage Development, the Bridge/BUILD Development and the many seniors who will be living at the CJL.
If it can be shown that there will be a lot more passengers for the 88 bus in the near future; perhaps the VTA can be persuaded to re-think their proposed route changes.

I do not have children at Gunn, but I know that many of my neighbors do and they use the bus on a regular basis. In fact one family indicated that the bus route was one of the reasons they chose to buy their home as they did not want to be driving their kids back and forward to school all the time.

Los Gatos has worked with the VTA about bus service. They now apparently have small busses running through their town and either provided by VTA or subsidized by VTA or by the city.??
Palo Alto has know of this possible service for many years (the traffic dept.)but apparently taken no action to get it here.
The city taxpayers have been paying millions to run our little buses and the county,VTA, could be involved in this. Most large VTA busses are empty or nearly empty except for the school students.
The city will only take action only when either connected friends of the council or possibly when large numbers of residents demand action or change.

Oh, geez, uh oh, you've got it 100% right. It's going to be a freaking nightmare! And remember that a bunch of the folks doing the driving in that hugely overcrowded area are newly-licensed teens, too. YIKES!

I feel rather confused about this to be honest. Like you said adults have been encouraging students (us) to use public transport, and a handful of us find it really useful. I'm frankly baffled and rather offended at the choice of meeting time however. The largest interest group in the cutting down of Bus 88 are students, yet as every parent (and hopefully the city knows) Gunn students don't leave school until 3:15 on Wednesday. Seems to me someone doesn't want us to get our say.

When I ride my bike to work, I encounter this bus line a lot.
Since I saw the announcement they were considering eliminating the bus line, I have been looking inside. I see it completely empty a lot. Given the lack of riders, I think if people on this thread want the line to survive, it needs to get used more.
I'm passing it, or its passing me on Louis and its empty.

It seems to make sense that a compromise or tweaking could be done on this route. In the a.m. the route to Gunn could stay as it is while the reverse commute cancelled and then change round later in the day with the route accommodating the return of the Gunn students and then cancelling this loop after 5.00 if necessary.
