Restaurants, posted by resident, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Apr 12, 2007 at 12:37 pm

This Afghan restaurant is on Middlefield Road in the Midtown Center.

I like the Afghan breakfast, which consists of spicy beef, eggs and vegetables (lima beans and diced carrots). I don't know if these veggies are fresh or canned. Also, Afghan bread freshly baked is served. I have yet to try other breakfast choices there because I really like the spiced beef that comes with the Afghan breakfast.

The regular coffee there is very very good!

For lunch or dinner, the food is fine but there is too much rice served with every dish! Heaps and heaps of rice. Even the "brown" rice is just white rice flavored to look brownish. So I tend not to want to go there for lunch or dinner. Others have told me they love the food. So opinions vary. Do try the breakfast though

I've really enjoyed the food and coffee in a friendly, family environment. It's an under appreciated Midtown jem.

The "Veggie Combo Platter" is one of the best dishes at Cafe Sophia. The "oil" on the plate is olive oil from the sundried tomato that is used to garnish the pumpkin, and eggplant. Its one of my favorites!!!

I forgot to mention earlier than I really love the pumpkin side dish.

Try it!!!

I will try the veggie combo platter sometime; thanks for the tip Isabel.
