He bills himself as "the wildest beatboxing cellist in the West." Now Cello Joe (aka Joey Chang) is perhaps aiming for a broader geographic title. He's about to embark with a group of other musicians on a six-month bicycle tour of Europe, dubbed The Pleasant Revolution.
The Los Altos native, profiled in the Weekly last year, is likely not looking to overthrow any governments. His strongest passions seem to be for organic vegetables and freestyling on his cello. And doing very green things. This tour is all about bike-generated power: Musician/cyclists are carrying their own equipment so they can put on amplified concerts all over the place without using a truck or van. ...

Do you know how many pieces there are in a cello? In my 6th grade class, Betty Sullivan was showing off her cello in the yard and someone bumped it. Rapid disassembly!! Carrying a cello on a bike has to be a challenge.
I believe Sheriff Arapaio makes prisoners peddle bike generators to power the court ordered TVs. One of the radios I operated in the Army, the SCR694 had a hand operated generator. One hand powered on air session and you made sure never to run out of batteries again.
