Local road closures, why can't we be told here?

Original post made by Resident on Jun 30, 2014

Just got back from driving around town to a couple of different appointments and discovered that Meadow is closed to traffic and that there are lane closures calling tailbacks on Oregon from 101. This is a holiday week which is why I suppose the work was being done, but it also means that traffic was light. If we had been alerted about road closures and lane closures in advance before leaving the house, we could have left extra time and/or chosen a different route. An app for local traffic conditions would be very helpful, but even if they were mentioned on Palo Alto Online or Twitter it would help.

Our traffic can be dismal and with medical appointments during the middle of the day in non commute times, forewarning any delays would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Resident - I agree, try driving downtown PA - random parallel streets closed for paving or my personal favorite - by a construction company building yet another office building (there are lots of them...) No coordination of street closures and I suspect in the case of the office building construction, no permission from the City to close the road either!

According to Jaime Rodriques on another thread, Oregon will continue to have repaving work done on Wednesday. Please can we be warned about this one in advance on the Weekly main page.
