A possible explosive device found in an East Palo Alto residence was determined to be an old inert training mortar round, according to Menlo Park police.
The East Palo Alto Police Department and Menlo Park Fire Department responded to a call about the device, which was found found in a residence on the 2000 block of Euclid Avenue in East Palo Alto. The San Mateo County Bomb Squad responded to assess the device.
The bomb squad determined the device did not pose any danger. The squad took custody of the device and the surrounding area was opened for regular traffic, police said.
Question: How did that round end up in a private residence in the first place?

Okay, that would explain it. But in terms of collectibles, that would be a rather unusual one to have around the house…
