Nice work by EPA detectives.. Interesting to see the level of actual gang presence in Palo Alto.

I drive by this house often and all I've ever seen is big, happy family parties in the driveway. I guess behind closed doors it was another scene. Glad EPA police were able to make some arrests and take some weapons/drugs off the streets. Hopefully this will deter other would be gang members. Also interesting that they raided a home in Palo Alto. I wonder if they used SWAT team and Humvees over there? I'm guessing they didn't as that would have caused quite a scene in Palo Alto. To all those authorities involved in this operation, please keep up the good work and thank you for making our neighborhoods a little safer!

What is the actual level of gang presence in Palo Alto? Can one quantify that?

this is interesting. why is everyone in EPA a gang member automatically?
If someone gets killed its because they were in a gang! not true it could have been an innocent person and they are still labeled as a gang member.
Everything else speaks for its self.

To all the people who read this report. I am a resident in that area that is a very good family who got there home invaded and raided. Nothing was found at this apartment the story line is false and incorrect. There are no gang members residing in that home just a single mother taking care of her kids. Don't assume/believe everything you read.

@EPA res - The article says "Police also seized a large amount of marijuana and gang indicia". Are you contending that they were just gang paraphernalia collectors, and not gang members?

Nothing says "gang" more than the seizure of "handguns, assault pistols, a high-powered rifle, an automatic shotgun, body armor, ammunition and accessories"

Nothing in the article implies that the guy with the gunshot wounds was a gang member however.

The easiest way to explain any shooting in EPA is and always has been to label those shootings as gang related.. And always when those investigations lead to another city... NOTHING.. All of a sudden every explanation/reasoning for the violent acts changes. WHY?? It has always been the case that EPA police (especially the former Chief Davis) choose to make it easier for themselves by saying these criminals and their victims are all gang members or affiliates. The article makes mention of a apartment in PALO ALTO, but still whomever they arrest remains an EAST Palo Alto RESIDENT.. How so? When these reports are published there's so much bias, manipulation of words, twisting the facts.. Why bother writing or to what purpose are these articles being written if not to simply inform the public? It bothers me to constantly come across such preponderance and the constant oportunistic belittling of my community.

Dear EPA Resident, I appreciate your views, and will remember them when I read such articles about APA in the future.

@EPA Resident - Did you read the article? Why did the police confiscate gang paraphernalia, as stated in the article, if they weren't gang members? No one here is making assumptions, wither the police are lying, or they were gang members.

I assume a very small percentage of EPA residents are in gangs, but a very high percentage of people who shoot people in EPA are in gangs.

The police found a red SF hat and labeled him as a gang member. is it his fault that he is a niner fan? people are always saying epa residents are gang members why is that being said if there is no evidence of any gang affiliation. I personally know the family and I know for a FACT they are not gang members. I agree with EPA resident the news is always twisting words and adding to the facts. dnt always believe what you read. Just as an FYI people there aren't any more gangs in east palo alto. East Palo Alto was the murder cap in 1992. most of the men that were nortenos or surenos are either dead or in jail serving looooong sentences.

> there are no gangs in EPA ..

Interesting. Got to wonder why there are so frequent arrests of people claimed to be gang members by law enforcement?

Sorry .. but claiming that there are no gangs in EPA is like claiming there is no sand in the Sahara ..

As i began to read this article I couldn't help but notice the amount of biased. Also If this investigation has been going on for a while then why didn't they have the decency to make sure that any of the men said to be linked to this crime actually lived in the palo alto home. They searched the home and yet they found a nothing but clothes that they may say are gang related. How many gangs are there in palo alto? These officers obviously had nowhere else to be and nothing else to do but terrorize a palo alto family.

@Resident:

You have to be kidding me about this being a "nice family"! You must be related to them. Their entire family is a public nuisance. They constantly have a slew of people coming and going from their apartment including the father of the kids who wears all red, has a red car, gang tats and goes by the name of "Roscoe". The oldest kid (about 16) also wears all red and is never seen without a red 49ers cap. They are always playing with airsoft replica firearms. The "single mom" takes off on weekends and lets the kids fend for themselves. Good way to raise your kids. I see gang related activity at this residence every day with all their "guests" coming and going.
