Pederson's return helps spark Paly girls to soccer win

Original post made on Dec 18, 2013

Weekend prep roundup
Palo Alto's Jacey Pederson finished her freshman soccer season in 2012-13 on suspension for competing in a U.S. National Team camp that wasn't sanctioned by the California Interscholastic Federation. That also cost her the first four matches of this season.

[Portion removed.]

Why don't you report on the Paly girls varsity coaches and why players refused to come back and play their senior year for a "man" that thinks it's fine to demean going women? Why have some many girls not returned as why have so many quit? Why does Kurt have a special agreement with the union coach that he promised starting spots to union players before the seson even started?

Let's get some of these questions answered!

I've heard similar comments about the coach berating and calling the players names. Seems inappropriate, at best.

If it's true the players and families need to talk to the principal. I'd suggest going to Earl Hansen, but if doesn't affect the football program he probably won't put too much time in to it.

I think 2 or 3 girls have quit since the season started.

Maybe the new ad can bring in someone that actually enjoys coaching girls.

Hansen is retiring. Don't bother. Go to Kathie Laurence. She's a former Stanford varsity swimmer. She gets it.

Anyone who knows the Union coaches knows that they are not fans of HS soccer. They tolerate their players doing it, barely. The Upnion players are good payers with great skill that is probably why they are playing.
