Thank you to Palo Alto Fire Department, Ambulance, Police Department, and all restaurant patrons who helped to catch this thief! Yes, we absolutely do need to look out for one another, so thank you for not letting him escape and being so persistent! Wonderful citizens of Palo Alto!

What a saga! Well done and congratulations to all involved, especially the intrepid paramedics. My only advice when in crowds or shopping is to wear a cross body handbag with your hand always on the zipper or closure, and never leave it out of your sight. Anyway, so happy this alleged, ahem, thief has been caught.

I always say "Don't make it easy for them by giving them an opportunity."

That means locking a car, and when shopping don't leave items inside your vehicle in plain view, even unlocked in your own driveway, Also, be sure to not leave the garage door up if you aren't right there (they stole an expensive bike that way here on the coast), and especially don't carry a open purse or leave it "semi-attended" in a busy restaurant.

In other words, use common sense.

What about applauding the purse owner's friend? She was the one that witnessed the criminal in the act, and kept him from leaving the restaurant!

Great work by all in catching this guy! Made my day! Hopefully he's here illegally, and will be deported back to his country, sooner than later.
