Lots of police at Stanford Mall today, anyone know why?

Original post made by palo alto parent, Embarcadero Oaks/Leland, on Apr 27, 2013

Palo Alto Police, Stanford Sheriff and the mall security were all gathered in a parking lot near El Camino, there were 6 or 7 squad cars, any idea what happened?

I remember reading something about Palo Alto police and Menlo Park police getting together to do TV movies about gang activity. My concern is that to do documentaries for TV show, police department maybe instigating vulnerable people to snap off? Something is not right here. Why doesn't the police department speak up? What is going on?
