Sophomore guard Aaron Bright scored 15 points and added six assists as the Cardinal downed Minnesota, 75-51, in an emphatic performance in the championship game of the National Invitation Tournament.

Hank Luisetti had graduated from Stanford in about 1938 and couldn't have helped win the 1942 NCAA championship. The 1942 team included Jim Pollard, Ed Voss, Fred Linari, Bill Cowden, and others.

Luisetti's association with Madison Square Garden is that he led the Stanford 1937(?) team that beat St. Johns there.
