What do Atherton police do?

Original post made by localmom on Feb 24, 2012

Another periodical put out the Atherton salaries today; the police officers salaries range from 112000 to 140000. Since Atherton is always complaining about budget problems why is it necessary to have their own force? Even Woodside uses San mateo county sheriffs. On Thanksgiving afternoon I noticed four different Atherton PD cruisers pointing out towards El Camino from their local streets. If they are looking for DUIS, the Sheriff or CHP could provide that service, San Carlos found having their own force too expensive.
Please give feedback on why Atherton needs this expense.

Some prefer, and are willing to pay for concierge service. Some like to squeeze a nickel.

It's a preference thing.

Why does it concern a Menlo mom? Perhaps she was pulled over on El Camino that Thanksgiving day and had a little talk. Perhaps she realized that Atherton resident's get a little slack and are let go, whereas residents of another town get a ticket.

I sure enjoyed the feeling when the first time I got a little warning and was allowed to drive off ticket free. Always thought "warnings" were an artifact of the past.

You get what you pay for.

Love the APD.
