Big Bang in Palo Verde area Tuesday evening.

Original post made by Palo Verde Resident, Palo Verde, on Jan 18, 2012

There was a loud, deep, booming bang in our area Tuesday evening about 7.30. It sounded like a transformer blowing, but as far as I could see there were no power outages around my immediate neighborhood. Anyone know what it was?

There was a non-injury accident at Middlefield and St Claire at about 7:20pm yesterday. PAFD was called to clean up some leaking fluid.

At about the same time, PAFD responded to the 1700 block of Oak Creek Drive. A wall heater started a small fire, but no injuries were reported. Also, PAPD was working an issue on the train tracks followed by a domestic violence case in south Palo Alto. In north Palo Alto, PAPD was searching for an elderly non-English speaking woman who was lost and wandering. PAPD located her just before 9 PM and returned her home.

A busy few hours for PAFD and PAPD.

Joe thanks for the information. None of those seem to match the sound I heard, unfortunately.

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund

For the last 23 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away more than $4 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. When you make a donation, every dollar is automatically doubled, and 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
