Echelon events, Taste of Palo Alto to be held Saturday

Three city-sponsored events will be held in downtown Palo Alto this Saturday (Sept. 17): The Echelon Gran Fondo (a multi-mile bike ride from town to the coast and back), the Echelon Challenge (a closed-loop 0.6-mile course for fundraising cyclists or walkers) and the Taste of Palo Alto food festival.

I noticed that other news reports emphasized that this event was primarily a fundraiser for local charity groups. The Weekly does not mention anything about the charities. How much money did the event actually raise for charity?
