Poor software in HP laptop

I have an HP laptop which came with a bad audio driver. HP has helped me reinstall the OS, and the bad driver, but since the software is faulty, it keeps having the same problem. The tech support people keep pretending that if I just install the same software again and again it will magically not have a problem. Then they tell me it's my headphones, even though the several sets I've tried all work on other products, such as Apple products. Does anyone have an idea of how I might solve this problem?

Tech support works off a problem sheet - if the programmed solution doesn't solve your problem it is time to go up a level or so.

Sometimes apple headphone does not work on hp touchpad.

Years ago, I had a subtle problem with a driver for an HP product, and HP tech support was really impressive. A real expert spent some quality time on my problem and figured out how to fix it.

So, Jean, welcome to the new world of corporate consolidation and cost cutting.

My idea of how you might solve this problem? Buy a Mac if you can. More expensive, but, Apple is one of the few companies left that still provides some level of expert consumer support.
