Put them on the front lines in Iraq and see how brave they really can be....

Instead of sending them to jail, put them in the army. If they like violence so much, lets put them to good use. Anyone with a gang tattoo or affiliation should be drafted.

Sometimes it feels as if though Chief Ron Davis is doing and saying things to get his name out to the press in hopes of more publicity for himself!!!
Chief...really? C'mon!!! A press conference to say that your doing your job rather than driving around town in your black Crown Vic throwing your cigarette butts out the window?

Agree what you said about Ron Davis. Whatever he does is to make himself look good. Not what's best for our town.

Chief Davis has been an attention hog since he started. But many residents love him because he's accessible and takes action. He's very community-oriented and has built good relationships with many of the nonprofits and other orgs in town. That said, many other LE officers aren't impressed with him.

I think he's good at building community as well as consensus, getting help, grants and is good at planning. He *seems* to be more effective than past chiefs. Still, this last press conference seems over the top. I'm all for coming down hard on the gangs - ongoingly - but the hype around it is just silly.

BTW, 4th of July here seemed more atrocious than usual. Where was all the cracking down being done???

You're all idiots! If the Chief wasn't going for all the publicity, EPA would have no federal, state or foundation funding that provide programs for our youth (did you notice that we finally have the PAL program back or did you miss the big basketball game last week?). The other chiefs never played the game and we never got anything. Keep it up, Chief! My child is busy with all kinds of after-school activities now and none of them involve gangs!

Don't miss out on the discussion!
