Trail connections a focus for new POST leader

Creating trail connections among open-space parcels on the Peninsula will be the next great focus of local land preservation, says the new president of the Peninsula Open Space Trust. Walter Moore took the helm of the venerable nonprofit Friday following the 24-year tenure of Audrey Rust.

POST does a great job of supplementing our public parks. I hope that they can look at connecting our existing neighborhoods to park lands. Most of the current POST land is so remote that people have to drive their cars to access it. Putting trailheads closer to neighborhoods will allow people to bike or even walk to there instead of driving.

One only has to ask what these areas would probably be like today had these individuals not acted, to see what visionaries they are.
