What an idiot. I thought "battery" was make threats of assault, sounds like this guy actually assaulted the officers. Am I incorrect?

You have it reversed. Assault is the intent/threat to do bodily harm to another person, and battery is actual physical contact.

I take my hat off to the police officers involved in this. How disgusting of this guy to call this officer terrible, awful names and then spit on her! To the officer, it really offends me that you were treated this way. I hope you are ok after this encounter with a drunken idiot. Thanks for doing your job. I hope your knee is ok. This guy hopefully will gets what is coming to him.
