Carbon monoxide detectors

Original post made by Maria, Duveneck/St. Francis, on Jun 22, 2011

I just became aware through an article in the San Jose Mercury that all homeowners in California must have carbon monoxide detectors installed in their homes by July 1, 2011 or face fines of several hundred dollars according to a law passed last year. How many of you out there know about or have even installed those gadgets? Time is running short.

Home carbon monoxide detectors have been on the market for maybe 10 years. I can't remember how long ago I bought one. Old fashioned smoke detectors have a limited life span and when yours expire, that would be a great time to upgrade to models that also detects monoxide.
