Are there any other swimmers in town beside Jasmine? I mean really... This is a good article but let's give some of the other kids a chance. :)

Sure, just a quick scan of the finals (top 20) results, restricting to PASA swimmers who go to a public high school in Palo Alto, shows Rachael Acker 6th in the 100 free (with an Olympic Trials cut), 9th in 50 free, 18th in 100 fly and 17th in 100 back, in addition to her 200 free mentioned in the article; Casey Lincoln 14th in 800 free, 16th in 400 free and 19th in 200 free; Julia Ama 14th in 200 free, 15th in 50 free; Andrew Liang 18th in 100 fly; Byron Sanborn, 18th in 200 IM. Including all the other PASA swimmers would take too long - there are a lot. We have a wealth of swimming talent here.

Keith - yes there are quite a number of outstanding young swimmers in town. In fact we live in an area of swimming excellence. But Jasmine is truly in a class of her own, ranking among the very best in our country at the tender age of 17. She has gotten less recognition than high school athletes in football, basketball and other sports who are many years (if ever!)from achieving in their sports what Jasmine has accomplished in swimming. And she keeps getting better!

In addition to being an outstanding swimmer - she has remained a nice person and a supportive teammate! Not all elite athletes can claim that in addition to their talents.

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund

For the last 23 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away more than $4 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. When you make a donation, every dollar is automatically doubled, and 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
