The same principle applies to all parking spaces, not just near train stations. San Francisco has a new program to install bike racks on city streets in place of car parking spaces. 10 bikes fit in the same space as 1 car. Business owners are begging the city to install racks in front of their stores since they increase their customers 10 fold.

If Palo Alto businesses want to increase the number of customers downtown, this is a cheap way to do it.
