Palo Alto City Council Votes to Fight Firefighters Union Petition

Original post made by Bob on Apr 20, 2010

The Palo Alto City Council voted 7 - 2 Monday night "Requesting that the City Council Recommend to the Voters of Palo Alto that they not sign the Union Petition seeking to remove the ability of the Council to determine appropriate staffing levels for the Fire Department." (quote from Item 15 of Council Meeting Agenda)

It was also pointed out that if you have already signed the petition and you've changed your mind and you wish to withdraw your signature, you may go down to the City Hall and request to have your name removed from the Petition.

Didn't the council in 2008 recommend to voters that the vote for the HSR proposition? Will they change their mind about this a few months after the election? Are they being misled here? What does Larry Klein say?
