East Palo Alto Police have identified a suspect in Tuesday’s shooting at two police officers.

An arrest warrant was issued for Miguel Alvarado, 20, for attempted murder on a police officer.

Alvarado is being sought after allegedly firing a gun at two East Palo Alto officers during a traffic stop at 9:40 a.m. He fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.

Alvarado is described as a Hispanic male, 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair and has three tattooed dots on his right wrist.

“We are particularly concerned because this shooting took place in broad daylight when many residents are on the street. We want to get this individual off the streets and behind bars,” said East Palo Alto Police Capt. Carl Estelle.

East Palo Alto Police are working with Oakland Police and the California Department of Justice to apprehend Alvarado.

Anyone with information about Alvarado is asked to call the East Palo Alto Police Department at 650-321-1112.
