Do hard times mean more domestic violence?

Original post made on Nov 7, 2009

Thank you for your excellent coverage of domestic violence. We work with non-abusive parents, usually battered mothers, of abused children who are often placed in unsupervised contact with or full custody of batterers and molesters by family courts. Alycia Mesiti was one of those children. Her body was found in her father's back yard years after she had been put into his custody, despite her reports of abuse. Our organization has data showing that children are endangered far too often. We want to applaud Assembly Member Jim Beall is sponsoring AB 612 to help prevent these terrible outcomes. Please consider covering this issue in your paper. Connie Valentine, M.S., CA Protective Parents Association 916-233-8381
