Football changes help kick off the new season

It's a season of change for local high school football teams in 2008. And, all the changes are positive ones heading into opening kickoffs. The two biggest, most expensive and obvious changes can be found at Gunn and Palo Alto highs, where both schools have entered the 21st century with new FieldTurf playing facilities.
Each all-weather field costs approximately $1.5 million and will allow both schools to also move their soccer teams there in the winter. The big plus is no muddy, potentially dangerous surface when it rains.
