Stanford boys earn six berths for JO water polo tournament

Eight age-group boys' teams from the Stanford Water Polo Club took the various pools last weekend with the goal of qualifying for next month's National Junior Olympics. Six of the eight earned berths with another winding up on the bubble as an alternate after finishing ninth. Perhaps the biggest surprise was provided by the Stanford 12-U Red team, which won its qualifying tournament at Campolindo High.

The Stanford club teams certainly did have a lot of success in the quals. It's great that they'll play the JO tournament in our own back yard. Congratulations athletes, coaches and parents!
