Original post made by Stacy on May 17, 2009

This morning about 8 police cars were speeding to the baylands. Then a crashed car was towed away. What's the scoop?

The vehicle was reportedly being chased by San Mateo County Sheriff's officers from Redwood City, according to Dan Ryan of the Palo Alto Polcie Department. It crashed into a gate near the Baylands and three people were arrested. We are working on getting more details from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, as they made the arrest (not Palo Alto police). We will post details as soon as we are able.

Just a few more details from my perspective at the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course. The car passed by the golf course at about 6:45am. It was traveling at 80+ MPH followed very closely by several police cars, the closest being no more than 10 feet behind. By my very unofficial count there we more than 12 police cars from multiple agencies involved in the chase.

Dumb question-- Where did the people think they were going to escape to? Did they think Embarcadero was an on-ramp to the Dumbarton Bridge?
