Bale` Salon under new ownership

Original post made by Stacy S. on Jan 7, 2009

If you shop or live in the Midtown area, you are familiar with " Bale` Salon". It has been there for many years, and has always been a pleasant place for many local residence to go. There is a friendly staff who know the area and get to know the people who go there on a personal level. They really care about being part of the community.
Well that is the old Bale Salon. Although the staff is the same, ( which I must say is the only thing holding the place together) it is under new managment as of six monthes ago. This is obvious not only because of the large yellow sign that hangs out front, but because the new manager Jimmy, has been seen standing out on Middlefield Road soliciting people to come in the place for services.
But, be careful, when you enter the salon, you are on camera. Yes, he has the small place set up with cameras all over the place. He has set up his " Main terminal" for video taping and vewing everything& everyone, and all conversations, in the former massage/wax room.( a small room in the middle of the place,)
I was horified to walk in for my regular apointment and see cameras all over the place, and to hear him brag how he watches everything from that room. I had heard rumers from many of the locals who had been in there about this, but didnt really believe it until I saw it for myself.
What used to be a nice relaxing place to have some spa/me time has been replaced with this. Wow, and this is Midtown in palo alto. [Portion removed by Palo Alto Online staff.]
