According to, you can drop off your vote-by-mail ballot at many locations besides polling places:
County Government Center (during normal business hours through Election Day)
70 W. Hedding St., San Jose
1st Floor, outside of Board Chambers, next to information desk

City Halls / City Clerks Offices (during normal business hours through Election Day)
Campbell: 70 N. First Street
Cupertino: 10300 Torre Avenue
Gilroy: 7351 Rosanna Street
Los Altos: 1 N. San Antonio Road
Los Altos Hills: 26379 Fremont Road
Los Gatos: 110 E. Main Street

I never received my vote by mail ballot - only the sample. Can I vote?

paly parent,
You should go to your polling place, explain that you did not receive your absentee ballot and ask for a provisional ballot. Your votes will be counted once it is determined that you only completed one ballot.

That list of polling locations does not appear to be accurate for this election. At least one of the places mentioned in the February 2008 list was not open for business today when I went by. It appears the number of polling locations has been reduced substantially since last election and the poll worker I spoke with said the long term plan is to have everyone vote by mail and eliminate the need for polling places altogether.

Just type in your address and voila! your polling place name, address, a map and directions from your house pops up. Very cool.
