Anna Eshoo Earmarks $2,000,000 in Tax Dollars to Search for Space Aliens

Original post made by Chris, Old Palo Alto, on Jul 29, 2008

Our local Congressional Representative, Anna Eshoo, is a champ at bringing home the bacon. Not content with the mundane spending of most of her peers, she's gone out of this world to fund (with tax dollars) a telescope to search for space aliens. Web Link.

It's interesting to note that even though she and fellow Democrats are persistent critics of wasteful spending at the Pentagon, this earmark comes out of the Defense Budget.

We won't solve our federal budget problems as long as this nonsense is going on.

why do we need so much government spending?
You and I already bailing out those bankers who made specious loans to people who can't pay. Why do I have to pay for those people who made the mistake?

Why is this money coming out of defence? Aliens could be friendly.

But why waste the money at all? There are many more earthly worthwhile ways of spending this money, defencewise or otherwise.
