Within the first 20 pages I'm floored by the fact that by 1776, the Adams family had been in Massachusetts for 100 years, and impressed by how the context/way of thinking is rolled out. - By page 60, or so, there's the pulsating, prospering, metropolis of Philadelphia. - Even having read a few bios of early Americans and some associated history, this is something else.
