Former UC chancellor dies in Portola Valley

Albert Bowker, who was chancellor at the University of California, Berkeley, in the 1970s, died Sunday at a retirement home in Portola Valley. He was 88 and had suffered from pancreatic cancer. Bowker was chancellor at UC Berkeley from 1971 to 1980. He was also chancellor of the City University of New York from 1963 to 1971.
