CIty Municipal Code Unavailable online

Original post made by Civic Duty on Feb 4, 2008

I tried to access the city municipal code today - after MUCH treasure hunting to even find the link on the new city web site - and found the following instead: Web Link

"The infobase you are trying to access, published by Procode on behalf of this municipality has been removed for non-payment of hosting fees.

If you are the municipality, contact us about direct reinstatement at 818.728.1110.

If you are a user, we apologize for the inconvenience and suggest you contact the municipality. Do not contact us, we cannot assist end-users.

Thank you."

In the days where printing was an expense there was justification for allowing the printer to recover expenses for producing copies. Now that the presses are no longer needed, it is time to require all laws to be accessible on the internet. I just recently paid over 300 dollars for CD copies of the plumbiung and electrical codes even though the reproducton cost was just a couple of bucks and the value of those codes was in the adopting.
All laws including their suppoting materials should be accessible on the internet. Imagine having to pay to learn what a speed limit was.

That's our $500k at work.

It seems outright illegal to have paid that amount for a website, functional or not.

Go by the City Clerk's office I'm sure she'll give you a copy.
