Very clever! But it took me a minute to get it. Not sure most Palo Altans will, but it will be fun to watch.
Right on Walter.
Most people aren't old enough to have a clue about what you are doing, nor informed enough to know that Myanmar exists, let alone know what is happening in Myanmar ( hint to the befuddled...formerly Burma)
Oh, pu-leeze. Logical & Painfully ironic, where do you get off thinking that you're so clever and well-informed and the rest of us are too dumb to get the meaning? You do watch the news, don't you? Do you think the rest of us don't? Logical, I wouldn't be bragging if it took you a minute....
There are more that two things going on in Walter's post. Painfully Ironic gave you a clue, and I just gave you one.
Sorry, you didn't "get it".
Older people have an advantage in "getting" all of it. I would be interested to have someone under 45 explain it.
Walter, how about you? Want to make it a challenge for younger folks and you determine the winner?
What would be the prize? Besides knowledge.
Yeah, knowledge alone would have been enough before, but I think Palo Altans would be more willing to do the research and "get it" if there was a prize more appropriate to their values.
So, I was thinking a Starbuck's gift certificate...... Maybe $5 so they could buy a high-end cup of coffee..... Then I went on their website, and $15 is the minimum for a Starbuck's gift card.....
I'll pop $15 for a Starbuck's gift card if you will judge the respondents and determine a winner.
What do you think?
If anyone is interested, I am willing to try and decide who comes closest to comprehending why and what.
Very clever. I got it, spot on, but I was raised in an area where those signs were common (along with barns with tobacco ads).
Good one, Walter!
Yup, Burma Shave, Myanmar Shave, each line as one sign as you drive along. They copied that on the cow pasture fence at Hidden Villa too. Cute. So does John get the gift certificate?
Let it ride until the rollover.
Take off on Burma shave road signs in reference to the monk's uprising in Myanmar and the reprisals.
Painfully ironic, I don't get the 'tude, though. People aren't that unaware around here.
Well, I didn't think anyone would give this one a try. 182 people have viewed this topic, and from that only 2 think they "got it". I'm not going to make the decision on a winner, Walter said he would.
In my earlier post I said: "Older people have an advantage in "getting" all of it. I would be interested to have someone under 45 explain it."
So, Walter could you have age as a factor in your judgement.
Whoever Walter says is the winner will get a $15 Starbucks card. We'll figure out logistics after the judgement.
2/182= 98% of viewers didn't "get it"
I am not yet 45. But I do enjoy American history and studies. So I would actually say that 3 got it, by the way.
I'm sorry, you are correct. I just looked at the numbers again and counted everyone who responded so far. Including myself, 6 people have expressed an understanding for Walter's posting. Total viewers so far are 225, so 6/225 = 97% of viewers didn't "get it"..... Well at least Palo Altans are improving!
Glad to hear you are a student of history, wish more people were.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
