Palo Alto is really just the same as any other Peninsula City

From reading Town Square and constantly hearing the phrase "so Palo Alto" one would think that the residents of this City and the things that go on here are unique and don't happen elsewhere. This is in fact not the case. Each city has its own share of NIMBYs, naysayers, doom and gloom merchants, and the political redtape. Some of this may be more than other cities, some may be less. But, I know from friends who live all over the Valley that the same issues are dogging life in this area as a whole. True, we are the only City with Stanford. True, other cities may get more big box stores and increase in retail. However, there is still the same paranoid attitude that some of our residents have here, running rampant in our neighboring communities.
