Change bus route for Gunn students living at Stanford
Original post made by Sue Klapholz, Gunn High School, on Jun 23, 2006
Unsafe driving practices abound, with parents dropping students off along busy Arastradero Road or on the west side of Miranda Avenue (where students jaywalk through traffic to access Gunn). The congestion creates pollution, danger for bicyclists and pedestrians, and stress.
Currently, students from the Stanford campus residential area do not have PAUSD-provided (or any other) bus service to Gunn. For several years I have been part of a group of parents who have worked together to explore ways to obtain bus service for these students.
A proposal to reconfigure the J bus route is the result of this effort. The Nixon, Terman and Gunn PTAs all support busing for Stanford-area students to Gunn.
We hope the school district will come "on board" and work with us to make bus service for Stanford-area students a reality.
