Castilleja honored its two seniors, Shelly Steyer and Erin McLaughlin, with a big 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 victory on Senior Night over visiting Menlo School in a West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) regular-season volleyball finale on Wednesday. The Gators finished 5-5 in league (15-12 overall) while the defending champion Knights settled for a 4-6 league finish (15-18 overall).
McLaughlin produced eight kills in her final regular-season home match while sophomore Hannah Boland led the way with 10 kills. Sophomore Lindsey Wang had eight kills and freshman setter Hannah Hsieh added 20 assists for the Gators, who only last season went 1-9 in league.
For Menlo, it was a disappointing finish. Only a night earlier, the Knights had won an emotional five-game victory over rival Sacred Heart Prep on Menlo's Senior Night. Junior Allie Frappier led Menlo with 15 kills and five digs while senior Elizabeth Augustus added 16 digs. Senior Sarah Rosales contributed seven kills while senior Tess Brown had nine digs.
