It's time for members of the Palo Alto Post 375 American Legion baseball team to pack their bags and head off for their summer vacation following a 9-7 season-ending loss to Burlingame in the Area 2 Tournament on Thursday at Baylands Athletic Center. The setback was Palo Alto's second straight in the double-elimination tourney.
Palo Alto and Burlingame met four times over the final week of the season, twice in the Area 2 event. Burlingame won three of those games, including the most important one Thursday.
Palo Alto trailed 5-0 before scoring six times in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. Post 375 strung together seven consecutive hits in the inning, which saw Will Glazier plunked twice in the same frame. That lead, however, disappeared when Burlingame scored three runs in the top of the eighth and one more in the ninth to close the books on Palo Alto's season.
