Jamie Kruger's clutch 2 rbi double with two outs in the fifth and
Renic Sloan's terrific outing on the mound were not quite enough for
the RCN 9-10's to hold off Palo Alto. A four run top of the sixth
was too much for the Redwood City boys to overcome after all the
heroics of the day before.
Renic Sloan hurled three shutout innings to start the game as RCN
tallied two in the bottom of the first on a double by Tony Masetti,
single by Ben Simon, rbi ground out by Dylan Yapp and double by
Troy Siegler. RCN added two more in the third on doubles by Jamie,
Ben S, a walk to Dylan, and an rbi single by Taylor Dawley to build a
4 to 0 lead.
Palo Alto used a walk and four hits to build a five run inning in the 5th.
The PA batters seemed to aim the ball just beyond the desperate reach
of the RCN fielders. Being used to rallying from behind, RCN got singles
by Jamie and Tony and Ben's grounder was misplayed at first to score a run.
After Troy hustled to first to avoid a double play on his grounder, Ben S
snuck home for the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Palo Alto worked a walk and single into the tieing run in the top of the fifth,
but a walk to Nico Rollandi, single by Kyle Pruhsmeier and Jamie's double
had the RCN team ready for victory.
Ben Knupfer got the first out on a comebacker, but Palo Alto used two walks,
two singles, a hit batter and a double to take the lead. Not giving up, Dylan
Yapp hit a drive to left center that was snared on a fantastic diving catch.
Troy was able to reach base, but the next two hitters were retired by the
firstbaseman.

Alec Olmstead was fantastic in closing out the game for Palo Alto and inspiring his teammates during their winning rally. He embodied the spirit of Little League. Both teams should be congratulated on a well-played game.
The wonderful hospitality of the Palo Alto staff sets a high standard for other cities to meet. Report Objectionable Comment or Incorrect Information.
