Menlo (9-1, 16-3) held on to its two-game lead in the West Bay Athletic League boys' basketball race with a 57-37 triumph over visiting Crystal Springs (1-9, 4-17) on Friday night in Haynes-Prim Pavilion. It was the Knights’ third victory of the week, coming on the heels of wins over Harker and Sacred Heart Prep. The Knights finished the week on a high note and need to win no more than three of their final four games to win the WBAL regular-season championship. Menlo was led by Kenny Diekroeger's 15 points while fellow senior Alex Smith chipped in with 12 and senior reserve Daniel Hoffman added seven. Menlo will visit dangerous Priory (6-4, 12-7) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers have won three straight and beaten two first-place teams during that time (Harker and SHP).
