The Palo Alto boys' soccer team made its debut in the SCVAL El Camino Division a good one with a 2-1 victory over visiting Lynbrook on Friday. The Vikings (1-0, 5-2-1) got on the board first when senior Chris Meredith scored with six minutes gone in the second half off an assist from sophomore Fernando Rodriguez. Lynbrook tied things up four minutes later. Paly got the winner in the 38th minute of the second half on a goal by junior Cina Vazir.
This was Paly's first game in 19 days. It was a quick-paced game with Paly having several opportunities, including two shots on the post (Paul Stefanski) and one on the crossbar by Vazir, who had a clutch winning goal, taking a Rodriguez pass and striking it into the upper left corner from 15 yards out with only two minutes remaining to secure the win.
