Castilleja senior Lauren Rantz blocked seven shots, becoming only the third player in school history with 250 or more blocked shots, but the effort couldn't prevent the Gators from dropping a 59-33 decision to San Benito in the Gold Bracket consolation semifinals of the Don's Club Holiday Tournament at Del Mar High in San Jose on Friday. The 6-foot-1 Rantz also grabbed nine rebounds while senior Olivia Nicholls tallied 14 points for Castilleja (3-7). Sophomore Paige Vermeer contributed seven points and seven steals.
