The Palo Alto boys’ soccer team continued its strong early season play with a 1-0 victory over Seaside in the Oak Grove Gold Cup on Thursday. The Vikings (3-1), who are leading their pool, got the winning goal in the 17th minute of the first half when Dami Bolarinwa headed in a corner kick by Cina Vacir. Palo Alto played another solid defensive game, allowing Seaside only three shots on goal. Paly keeper Tony Maharaj had three saves, including one in the final three minutes that preserved the win. Solid defensive efforts by back Alex Chin, Kirby Gee, Jacob Dorward, and Neal Biswas kept Seaside's goal scoring chances to a minimum. Paul Stefanski and Chris Meredith (both seniors) along with Bolarinwa provided much of the Paly offensive push with nine shots on goal. The Vikings will continue tourney action on Saturday.
