The Palo Alto girls' volleyball team stretched its two-year winning streak to 23 straight with a 25-17, 2-15, 25-14 nonleague victory over visiting Leland on Thursday night. The Vikings (2-0) finished the 2011 season with a 21-match win streak.

Senior co-captains Shelby Knowles and Sophia Bono teamed up once again to lead the two-time defending CIF Division I state champions. Knowles had 15 kills and 15 digs while Bono had 25 assists. Becca Raffel finished with seven kills and eight digs, Bella Graves added five kills, Keri Gee contributed 13 digs and four aces while Anna Dukovic served five aces.

Palo Alto will compete in its first tournament of the season on Saturday, at the Deer Valley event in Antioch.
