The Menlo-Atherton boys’ swim team wound up having to share the PAL Bay Division dual-meet title with Burlingame after the Bears’ lost a big lead with three events remaining and finished in an 85-85 deadlock with the host Panthers on Thursday. M-A and Burlingame each finished the regular season with 6-0-1 records.
M-A finished one-two in the 200 free relay and took an 18-point lead into the 100 back. Burlingame, however, stormed back with 1-2-4 finishes in both the 100 back and 100 breast to cut the Bears’ lead to just two points heading into the final 400 free relay. Burlingame won the relay in 3:17.18, but M-A finished second and third to secure the needed points for a tie.
