In their second game against the Vikings of Lynbrook in three days, Gunn continued to hit on all cylinders, scoring 11 runs, and witnessing another Ryan Gorman complete game victory, 11-2. As of 3/28, the Titans had a 1 ½ game lead in the El Camino Division standings. It was Gunn’s 5th win in a row overall, and 4th in league. Following today’s game, Gunn pushed their record to 10-5 overall, and 6-2 in league. Lynbrook fell to 3-8 overall, and 1-5 in league.
Senior righthander Gorman was once again at his masterful best, giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits. In addition to a tidy 80 total pitches, Gorman went to a full count only twice all afternoon. In his last three starts, Gorman has given up 2 earned runs in 20 innings, for a .70 earned run average, and is limiting the opposition to a .154 average.
Offensively, a trio of Titans had three hits on the day. Junior left fielder Connor Dang went 3 for 3, with a triple, 2 RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Not to be outdone, frosh sensation Matthew Sandor went 3 for 4, with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Junior Kevin Sharp had 3 singles, 1 RBI, scored three times, and had 2 stolen bases. Senior Graham Fisher went 1 for 1, with a double, 1 RBI, and a stolen base. Senior center fielder Jake Verhulp went 1 for 3 on the day, scoring twice, with a stolen base.
The Titans will take next week off, with their next game scheduled Tuesday, April 10, hosting Pinewood at 4:00.
