The Gunn girls' basketball team pulled off its second straight upset and moved into a tie for second place in the SCVAL De Anza Division by toppling rival Palo Alto, 52-42, on Wednesday night. The Titans improved to 6-2 (12-5 overall) to match Paly (6-2, 13-4), which had defeated Gunn in the teams' first meeting this season. The Vikings also had beaten the Titans three times last season, including in the CCS Division I championship game. Gunn, however, knocked off previously unbeaten Wilcox last Friday and rode momentum from that victory into Wednesday's game.
Sophomore Zoe Zwerling led the Titans with 14 points, who sparked a 7-2 fourth-run that gave Gunn a double-digit lead. The Titans also did a solid defensive effort on Paly's Emilee Osagiede, who was limited to seven points while none of her teammates reached double figures.
