Rallying from a four-point halftime deficit, the Palo Alto boys' basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 69-61 victory over host Bellarmine in the championship game of the D.J. Frandsen Memorial Tournament on Friday in San Jose.
Palo Alto senior Israel Hakim scored 15 points and was named the tourney's Outstanding Player while teammate Alec Wong added 14 points and received the D.J. Frandsen Award for his effort as the Vikings improved to 8-1 while winning their second tournament of the season.
Juniors Aubrey Dawkins (18 points) and E.J. Floreal (13 points) helped Paly rally from a 21-12 first-quarter deficit while producing arguably its best balanced effort of the season for head coach Adam Sax.
